Will it be just our group?
The car, the host and the plan are yours alone, 2 to 8 guests. The estates welcome other visitors too, so now and then you may share a tasting room. On the Classic the boat is shared; on the Signature it is private. Single tastings may be shared with other guests.
Where does the day start?
Pickup between 9:00 and 10:00 at your accommodation (we confirm the time after booking), within 25 km of Pinhão and Alijó (Régua and Vila Real included), or at Tua station (the 7:30 train from Porto arrives at 10:06, every day). Check your hotel on the pickup map.
What time does it end?
Around 18:00. We drop you at your accommodation, or at Pinhão station for the 18:10 train.
How many people can come?
2 to 8 people. Send us your date by WhatsApp or through the short form on each page. Groups of 5 to 8 travel by van, subject to availability.
Can I bring children?
Yes. Children pay €40 on any tour (boat and lunch). They count as a seat in the car, and we have child seats. At the tastings they get grape juice.
Is there much walking?
Very little. We get around by car, with short walks at the quintas.
How does payment work?
Full payment when you book. Book a private day more than 60 days ahead and get 5% off.
Can I cancel?
Private tours: free cancellation up to 5 days before. Individual experiences: up to 24 hours before.
I have dietary restrictions. Is that OK?
Yes. Tell us when you book and we’ll arrange it with the restaurant.
What if it rains?
The day goes ahead; tastings are indoors. If the boat is cancelled due to bad weather, we refund the boat (€15 per person on the Classic).
Can I buy wine at the quintas?
Yes, at every quinta we visit. We can also ship it home; the price depends on the country and the number of bottles. Ask us for the rates.
What languages are the tours in?
English and Portuguese.
Is tipping expected?
No, never. If you enjoyed the day and want to leave something for your host, it is always appreciated, but it is entirely up to you.
Who drives?
We do. Nobody in your group has to choose between tasting and driving.
What should we bring?
Comfortable shoes. A light jacket from November to March, and a hat and sunscreen in summer.
Can you take a wheelchair?
Please message us before booking. A wheelchair may not fit in the boot of our car, so we need to check first.
When do you confirm the pickup time?
The day before, we confirm the exact pickup time and place on WhatsApp.
Can I get an invoice with my tax number?
Yes. Send us your name and tax number (NIF or VAT) when you book and we issue the invoice.
Want something different?
Birthdays, bigger groups, other quintas. Tell us your dates and we reply within 24 hours.
