Private wine tours from Pinhão
Pinhão is the heart of the Douro wine region: the river, the terraces and some of the valley’s best-known quintas are all here. This is where our days end, with a boat on the river. We’re based in Alijó, half an hour away, and know these roads by heart.

How it works
- We pick you up between 9:00 and 10:00 at your accommodation (within 25 km of Pinhão and Alijó, Régua and Vila Real included) or at Tua station.
- Your own car and host, 2 to 8 people.
- We drive all day. You taste.
- Back around 18:00.
Your day
- 10:30Quinta da Foz Tua. DOC Douro wine tasting, where the Tua meets the Douro.
- 12:00Olive oil made at a traditional mill.
- 12:45Lunch in Alijó.
- 14:30Quinta da Levandeira do Roncão. Port tasting, by appointment.
- 17:00A boat on the river from Pinhão, in the best light of the day.
Three ways to spend the day
- Classic – from €250 per person. Shared boat, lunch at a wine bar in Alijó.
- Signature – from €345 per person. Older Ports, four Foz Tua wines, lunch at O Barão and a private boat with tapas.
- Older Ports? – 50 and 70-year-old Ports on request. See the day.
Coming from Porto? The 7:30 train from Campanhã (daily) arrives at Tua at 10:06. We’ll be waiting at the station. How the train day works →
Good to know before your day in Pinhão
- Getting to Pinhão. The train from Porto follows the river for the last hour and takes about two and a half hours. If you come by train, we usually meet you at Tua, one stop further, so the day starts at the first quinta.
- No car needed. The roads above Pinhão are narrow and steep, and every quinta pours generously. We drive, you taste.
- Taxis are few. If you only need a ride, not a tour, see our Douro transfers with the price shown instantly.
- When to come. September and early October is the harvest, the busiest and liveliest time. Spring and late autumn are quieter. More in the best time to visit the Douro.
