Porto to the Douro by train: a wine day without driving
The most beautiful way into the Douro isn’t by car. It’s by train, on the Douro Line, running right along the river for the last hour of the trip. It’s also the simplest way to spend a day tasting without anyone having to drive.
How it works
- Take the 7:30 train from Porto Campanhã (daily), direct to Tua (arrives 10:06).
- The trip takes about 2h20.
- Buy tickets at the station or on the CP app. There are no reserved seats.
- Sit on the right-hand side: from Régua onwards, the river is on that side.
Your day with us
- 10:06Arrive at Tua. We’ll be waiting at the station, right next to Quinta da Foz Tua.
- 10:30Wine at Quinta da Foz Tua, then olive oil at a traditional mill.
- 12:45Lunch in Alijó.
- 14:30Port at Quinta da Levandeira, then the boat on the river at 17:00.
- 18:00We drop you at Pinhão station in time for the 18:10 train, which reaches Porto Campanhã at 20:30.
Your own car and host, 2 to 8 people (on the Classic, the boat is shared). You taste, we take care of the rest.

Good to know
- In summer and during harvest (late August and September) the trains fill up. Get to the station early.
- If the train is late, we wait for you. The day adjusts.
- Rather stay the night in the Douro? We pick you up at your accommodation within 25 km of Pinhão and Alijó (Régua and Vila Real included).
